As you know from Tony's post yesterday, Ava is 11 months old now. Insane. I need/want to start planning her birthday party, but I can't settle in my mind what I want it to be like. I know, a very, very important decision that will no doubt effect the rest of her life. Any suggestions? I'm also a little lost on what kind of birthday cake to make her since she really hasn't had any sugar yet (other than the cornbread cake episode ;o) ). I guess I'll make her a special healthy kind and make everyone else a sugar laden one. . .
Our weekend was a little crazy, with some late nights for her and so her sleep pattern has been a bit off the last couple of nights. I don't know what's going on but she's been waking up a couple hours after we lay her down at night and been hungry. But it's actually been kind of fun because Tony doens't get to see her much during the week and so that hour or so she's up at around 9:00pm has been a fun play time. Last night he busted out this little walker we got for her several months back and she pushed it around like a pro in her bedroom and ours (the only carpeted rooms). She was very serious about it and also got very frustrated when a wall or piece of furniture got in her way. She was cute and also really steady on her feet. Uh-oh.
This past Saturday we gave away our dog Jackson. We just weren't being able to give him the time he deserved and we found a wonderful home for him. A family with 5 kids who lives near Lake Lewisville and they go camping and hiking and the mom goes running every day. He will be so happy with them and I doubt he's thought of us once since he left. We on the other hand have been missing him quite a bit. Especially Ava, who pulls herself up on the window sill 4 or 5 times a day looking for him. Sad.

I officially apologize for the cornbread cake though it did have, as its base, corn .... It was worth it, though, to try and be Ava's favorite non-auntie.
Well .... I think cupcakes could be in order ... yours are fabulous!
Ava is going to be WALKING soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, so sad about your beloved doggie.
Maybe you can tape a picture of him up on the window. Then when Ava's 10 (or so) you can tell her that he's not really been there this whole time. Kind of like Santa Claus.
Ok. Maybe not.
But really, I know that's going to be hard for a while - we had a cat we gave up when Benjamin was born because she was psychotic - but there will come a time when you can look back on all the memories and be glad you did what was best for everyone.
You could make a carrot cake maybe for Ava. :) I'm thinking of doing that for Annie because she loves carrots so much and it seems healthier than the normal cake.
Yay for Ava! I'm sure she will be walking any time now!
How about a stack of pancakes with stuff in between?
