Once again we really enjoyed our stay at Plano Presbyterian. It's nice having a hospital that you actually enjoy being at. This time was a little different though because we had Madelyn in the room with us the entire time, other than for a couple hours each night, so we could get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. When Ava was born, because of her jaundice, she had to stay in the nursery under the lights except when it was time for her to eat. So Tony and I were pretty bored that time around where as this time we kept fairly busy just taking care of Madelyn. But we had fun.
We enjoyed having a few friends and family come visit us as well. And we especially enjoyed Ava coming to visit! We missed her so much those couple of days. She came up for a little while the evening that Madelyn was born. We had some other visitors also at the time and I think she was taken a little off guard seeing me in a hospital bed and all. At first she wouldn't come to me and would only let Tony hold her. But I understood because I remember feeling the same way when I was three and went to the hospital to see my mom after my sister was born.
We gave her a new alphabet puzzle and some bath toys that Madelyn "got" her. And soon she and I were working on the puzzle together and all was well. She still was shy about Madelyn though but she did help me pat her back before she left.
She came again the next day for a couple of hours and felt much more comfortable. Laughing and playing behind the curtains on our window and being silly. She seemed a little more interested in Madelyn, but still to shy to touch her. But while I was holding Madelyn, Ava came up and insisted that I give her most precious Lambie to Madelyn. She kept pushing Lambie towards me and saying "Mahlyn. Mahlyn". It was very very sweet. And when she left with Tony to go back to our friend Erika's house, she turned at the door and said, "Bye-bye Mama. Bye-bye Mahlyn." Adorable.
We left the hospital around 1:00pm on Tuesday, picked-up Ava from Erika's house on the way home and finally we had both our girls with us and were home. We felt so much more relaxed this time coming home with our new baby. There was no slight feeling of terror as we pulled out of the hospital and again as we walked into the house. We were just glad to be home and glad to have our lovely daughters with us. :o)
She passed her hearing test and looked cool while taking it too.
